About Joy

    Pastor Steve Schmelzer and his wife Kim have pastored Joy Christian Fellowship in Medford, Oregon, since 1982. In August 2007, they celebrated 25 years of full-time service to the southern Oregon community. Pastor Steve & Kim info.

    With skills that combine wit with wisdom and the Word of God, Pastors Steve and Kim prove that Christianity is a fun and rewarding way of life. They are advocates for Christian maturity, outreach and activism. Their stated mission is: “Leading the lost to Christ; Leading the believer into obedience.” Central to this mission is a passion to see every person find a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and then to live in obedience to God’s Word resulting in a joyful and purpose filled life.

Meet the Fellowship: Passion without Pretension
    Joy is a multi-generational church committed to building a community of strong Christian believers (church history). Like a city within a city, Joy leaders and members work individually and in teams to implement God’s strategies and principles. With the Bible as a foundation and the Great Commission as its charge, Joy members are taking the message of salvation to the streets of southern Oregon and beyond.

    In a world that constantly changes and where people have a tendency to be more fickle than faithful, Joy is a breath of fresh Christian air. Vibrant Sunday celebrations (Worship Team and Reign) and personal small group settings are both part of the Joy Christian Fellowship experience.

    Joy welcomes all believers to actively participate in the congregation’s efforts to claim and reclaim souls for the Kingdom of God. The pastors, leadership and members also have a heart for the hurting and the addicted (Solid Rock Road). With a system of Bible-based services, lives are radically transformed and individuals are guided toward their God-intended purpose. At Joy, people’s pasts become their testimonies rather than a source of continued guilt and shame.

Joy members can enroll at Zoe Bible College. Everyone in the fellowship is also provided with spiritual and practical training through the church’s Learn to Lead center. In general, we
